Kick off this weekend with affordable and fun events that are happening around the city!
Friday, June 13
Decade of Shack
Madison Square Park
Tickets: Free
The 13th is the last day you can grab a gourmet burger from Shake Shack in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Renown chefs Daniel Boulud and David Chang will be just a few of the people flipping patties for customers, and will be serving their own unique take on this traditional sandwich.
The Shining at IFC
323 6th Ave at W 3rd Street
Tickets: $14
Friday the 13th is approaching and IFC wants you to do it up right by screening Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. This deliciously infamous film follows the Torrance family as they take over an abandoned hotel for the winter. Danny Torrence, the father, starts to experience cabin fever and turns to insanity as a result. The only thing that can save his wife and son from him is "The Shining".
Today Show Summer Concert Series: Train
Rockefeller Center
Tickets: Free
As counterintuitive as this may sound, New York is actually the perfect place to be broke—at least during the summer. Now that the weather is bearable, that means that the city opens itself up to outdoor screenings, concerts, festivals- most of which are free! The Today Show will have holding its famous outdoor concert series, and this weekend Train will be playing. Come check out the San Francisco-based band, and relive your middle school moments by rocking out to "Drops of Jupiter".
Saturday, June 14
Back to the 80s with Tribute Band 'Jessie's Girl'
Le Poisson Rouge
Tickets: $17 Advance/$20 Day Of
Get your neon spandex and leg warmers out for Le Poisson Rouge's 80s night! 'Jessie's Girl', an 80s tribute band will be playing throwbacks for a night of boogieing and drinking
DAYLIFE: Beach Opener
Rockaway Beach Surf Club
