Help Robert Greene Finish ‘Actress’

The Gotham Awards-nominated doc about actress Brandy Burre is racing towards its Nov 7 release date…and the team needs your help to reach the finish line!

Help Robert Greene Finish ‘Actress’

The Gotham Awards nominations were announced earlier this week, much to the excitement of the indie film world! While films like Richard Linklater’s Boyhood and Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Birdman lead the pack, the list of nominations contained surprises in many different categories including Best Documentary. Robert Greene’s indie doc Actress, which chronicles The Wire’s Brandy Burre’s struggle to rebuild her acting career as her personal life crumbles around her, received a nomination. Its inclusion secured it a prominent place in Indiewire’s piece entitled “7 Biggest Surprises of the 2014 Gothams.”

So we bet you’re probably wondering how you can see this Gotham Award-nominated documentary. Actress is slated to hit select theaters on November 7th via Cinema Guild, but the filmmakers need your help in these few remaining weeks. Director Robert Greene has started a Seed & Spark campaign to help pay for the finishing costs and music rights for the film. The music—including a track from Harry Belafonte—is crucial to ensure that audiences experience the version of Actress that has gotten so much praise and attention.

Head over to the Seed & Spark campaign and check out the great video that Robert Greene has put together, which includes cameos from notable indie filmmakers and talent like Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip), David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints), Josh and Benny Safdie (Heaven Knows What) and Kate Lyn Sheil (The Heart Machine).
