This Weekend's Indies: 'Rush,' 'Enough Said,' and More

Opening in limited release today: The latest films from Ron Howard and Nicole Holofcener, plus Sam Rockwell in 'A Single Shot,' and Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow as sex addicts. Quite the weekend!

This Weekend's Indies: 'Rush,' 'Enough Said,' and More

Rush: Ron Howard presents possibly his least glitzy film in years, the true-life tale of Formula-One drivers Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) and James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth). The film is opening small, in limited markets, before hitting theaters everywhere next week. It's a pretty great, no-fuss sports movie, actually, featuring a pair of charismatic performances.

Enough Said: Nicole Holofcener (Lovely & Amazing; Please Give) is back and once again pairing with her muse, Catherine Keener. But it's Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the late James Gandolfini who are garnering the most attention for this romantic comedy.

A Single Shot: Sam Rockwell stars in what looks like a morality tale of accidental death and found money, similar in plot to A Simple Plan, at first blush. William H. Macy, Jeffrey Wright, and Jason Isaacs co-star.

Thanks For Sharing: Writer/director Stuart Blumberg (who co-wrote the script for The Kids Are All Right) brings us this tale of sex addicts Mark Ruffalo, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Gad, plus a featured performance by Alecia "Pink" Moore. This one has been bopping around festivals since last year in Toronto, and it's finally making it to the limited-run theater near you!

C.O.G.: Based on the writings of the wonderful and hilarious David Sedaris, this acronym of a movie ("Child of God") sees Jonathan Groff playing Sedaris as he goes off-grid to work on an apple farm, far away from his fancier sensibilities. Co-starring Denis O'Hare, Casey Wilson, and Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario.
