Blue Jasmine: Woody Allen's latest has gotten even better pre-release buzz than even his Best Picture nominee Midnight in Paris, particularly for the lead performance by Cate Blanchett. She and Sally Hawkins play sisters, and their story is purportedly based on a Streetcar Named Desire paradigm. The supporting cast is one of the more off-kilter Allen casts in a while, with Bobby Cannavale, Louis CK, Alec Baldwin, and Andrew Dice Clay. This one's opening small, but it could have a long shelf life into the fall.

The To-Do List: Whether you're looking for a raunchy sex comedy, an early-'90s throwback, or a showcase for young talent like Aubrey Plaza, Scott Porter, and Alia Shawkat, The To-Do List looks to offer a bit for everybody. Plaza plays a graduating high-schooler looking to up her negligible sexual experience by running down a checklist of sex stuff, all while pining for the local blond surf-god.

The Time Being: Frank Langella, Wes Bentley, Corey Stoll, and Sarah Paulson star in what can only be descibed as an art-thriller -- that is, a thriller where the subject is fine art. That's about as counterprogramming as it gets.

Drug War: Hong Kong director Johnnie To brings this crime drama to American shores, with a story full of drugs and secrets and betrayal and everything else we're looking for in our crime dramas.
