Virgunga takes its name from the Congolese National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and also a battleground for poachers, preservationalists, multi-national corporations, and insurgencies. With the support of Executive Producer Leonardo DiCaprio, Virunga premieres on Netflix this Friday, November 7. The investigative nature documentary makes calls to action to maintain the integrity of the park as the last natural habitat for the endangered mountain gorilla. Check out the powerful trailer:

The documentary, which celebrated its premiere at TFF 2014 in the World Documentary Competition, observes local activists, park rangers, and journalists as they team up to protect Virunga, its wildlife, and the local economy that depends on the tourist industry. The battle to protect Virunga National Park is still ongoing, which is logged on the film's website.

Get in the know yourself on November 7th when the documentary comes to Netflix!
