Are you listening to TFI Live? If not, you should be. TFI Live is a monthly podcast started by our friends at the Tribeca Film Institute to highlight innovative new talent, keep up TFI alumni filmmakers, and offer listeners insight into different areas of the indie film community.
In this 19th podcast episode, the TFI Live crew celebrates the month of October through a chat with filmmakers Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter, Wendigo) and Glenn McQuaid (I Sell The Dead, V/H/S) about the spooky season. Fessenden, a Brooklyn legend, founded and runs Glass Eye Pix, Brooklyn’s premiere genre production company that helped launch the careers of budding horror auteurs such as Ti West, Jim Mickle, Joe Maggio and McQuaid himself. The duo converse about indie filmmaker struggles, their dream projects, the current state of the horror genre, and their recommendations for required Halloween viewing.
If you’re looking for something a little outside the box this Halloween, we also recommend Fessenden’s and McQuaid’s audio genre series, Tales From Beyond The Pale, which we spoke with them about at the 2012 New York Comic Con.The pair brought to the TFI Live pod cast two clips from the most recent season: Caper featuring Breaking Bad’s Mark Margolis and The Crush featuring Sean Young (yes, Rachael from Blade Runner).
This month’s TFI Live is a perfect diving-in point if you haven’t listen to TFI Live’s first 18 episodes. You can check out the TFI Live archives on SoundCloud or iTunes. We highly suggest you do!
