Summer Fridays: Bastille Day, '10 Things I Hate About You,' & More!

Friday, July 11

Wet Hot American Summer and Trivia 
Videology at 8:30 PM
Tickets: $8 online/$10 at door 

Take a trip back to 2001, and then again to 1981, with David Wain's Wet Hot American Summer. Videology is holding a screening of this classic summer comedy that includes an actual smore roasting at every table, a 30 second talent show, and trivia! Come and join the fun this Friday and show off how much you know about this cult classic. 

Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival

Back for its tenth year, the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is bringing us amazing artists like Jay Electronica and Raekwon this year. The festival will be running from July 9 to 12, so grab your tickets while you can, and enjoy hip hop in its birthplace this weekend.

You've probably seen his face on Weekend Update every Saturday night, but Colin Jost (SNL's head writer) is coming out to do stand up this weekend at Caroline's! He'll be performing from July 10-12 so grab your tickets while you can.

First Impressions with Tom Cruise and Gary Busey

Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a show hosted by Gary Busey and Tom Cruise... Or at least people who act like them. Videology will be hosting a hilarious celebrity impression contest with very funny people like John Milhiser from SNL and Jackie Jenning from UCB, and you! Audience participation is welcome, so go ahead and perfect your Christopher Walken, or whatever else you can pull out of your sleeve for this Saturday!

Adidas Fanatic Soccer Tournament

When fashion and sports collide, some pretty cool things can happen. If you don't believe us, go and check out Adidas' annual Fanatic Soccer Tournament. The tournament will feature players from trendy New York institutions and brands such as Momofuku, Opening Ceremony, and Acne Studios. The event is open to the public, so don your best clothes and join the fashion fun. 

Kumiko the Treasure Hunter

FX's Fargo isn't the only riff off the Coen brothers' cult classic. The Austin-based Zellner brothers' film Kumiko the Treasure Hunter tells the story of a Japanese woman who watches Fargo and is convinced that there is a hidden sum of money in Minnesota that she must find. This rare sneak preview of the film will be followed by a Q&A with the Zellner brothers and an after party.

World Cup Final

Come out and watch the game we've all been waiting for this Sunday at Berry Park! This Brooklyn institution is the premiere sports bar, so come and grab a beer and hunker down to watch the World Cup final this Sunday!

FIAF's Bastille Day

Vivre la France! The French Institute Alliance Française will be holding a three block festival for Bastille Day this Sunday with food, games, drinks- and a lot of French fun. Even if you're not French, you can still indulge in the Bastille Day delicacies that will include crêpes, éclaires, and cheese!

10 Things I Hate About You 
Nitehawk Cinema at 11:50 AM
Tickets: $11

Probably one of the best rom-com adaptations of Shakespeare's plays, 10 Things I Hate About You will be screening at Nitehawk this Sunday! Come and watch Julia Stiles and the late and adorable Heath Ledger play out a tempestuous romance in this 90s classic.
