The original Channing Tatum-led Step Up was a frontrunner in a recent resurgence of dance movies, a genre that had been neglected since its peak in the '80s. Now in its fifth iteration, the latest Step Up takes place during a dance competition in Las Vegas and promises acrobatics, pyrotechnics, and performances by a few returning characters from the Step Up saga.

Another classic '80s dance movie, Flashdance has Jennifer Beals as the working-class dancer Alex, who aspires for a legitimate dance schooling. Just as memorable as the movie is the soundtrack, which sent classic songs like "Flashdance...What a Feeling" and "Maniac" to the top of the charts.
