TFF’s free outdoor screening series is back with some very entertaining movies for the whole family!

‘Mary Poppins,’ ‘Splash’ And ‘Next Goal Wins’ Will Screen At Our TFF 2014 Tribeca Drive-In®

The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by AT&T, today announced the return of four of their signature free community events including the Tribeca Drive-In (April 17-19).

The beloved Tribeca Drive-In® is back at Brookfield Place (Waterfront Plaza), sponsored by AT&T and hosted by Brookfield Place. The series will kick off on Thursday, April 17, with the 50th anniversary screening of the classic Disney film Mary Poppins, followed by the 30th anniversary celebratory screening of Ron Howard’s Splash starring Tom Hanks, John Candy, and Daryl Hannah on Friday, April 18, and closing with the world premiere screening of the soccer documentary Next Goal Wins on Saturday, April 19.

The free evening of cinema under the stars is open to the public, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open and programs begin at 6 p.m., with screenings starting at dusk (approximately 8:15 p.m.).

The Banks children just can’t get along with the nannies hired by their overbearing banker father. Then the wind picks up in the east, someone knocks at the door, and all of their lives are changed forever. Fifty years ago, audiences eagerly swallowed the spoonful of sugar that is Mary Poppins, and the film became one of the most beloved movie musicals of all-time. Come early for Disney-themed trivia contests, a "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" spelling bee, face-painting, food trucks and a high-flying kite show.

Friday, April 18
8:15 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m.

Allen Bauer is mysteriously saved from drowning off the coast of Cape Cod by a beautiful woman.  When he wakes on the beach, she all-too-quickly disappears into the ocean. The mystery continues days later when she reappears at the Statue of Liberty guarding an incredible secret. Allen falls wholeheartedly in love with her and the rest is cinema history. When the American Samoan national soccer team suffered the world’s worst defeat, losing to Australia 31-0, it crash-landed into last place in FIFA world rankings, and became known as “the worst team in the world.” More than a decade later, the American Samoan team has not yet won an official match. Next Goal Wins follows their miraculous efforts as they train for the next World Cup. Led by an eccentric new coach, they have a chance to redefine their international reputation.
