BAMcinemaFest Is Now In Full Swing

Returning for its sixth year, the BAMcinemaFest runs from June 18 - June 29 in Brooklyn.

BAMcinemaFest Is Now In Full Swing

BAMcinemaFest is back and is once again showcasing films from emerging filmmakers as well as some of America's most renowned directors.

This year, the festival is opening with Richard Linklater's film Boyhood on June 18. Linklater did the unthinkable in this groundbreaking film and used the same cast over 12 years, watching each of his characters grow in real time. This coming-of-age film follows the life of its protagonist Mason (Ellar Coltrane), and reveals the grueling yet fulfilling aspects of growing up. The film has already received stellar reviews and is well on its way to becoming an indie classic.

In addition to the incredible line-up of films that premiered at Sundance, SXSW and beyong, our very own Zachary Wigon's debut feature The Heart Machine will screen at the festival on June 21st. The film is centered on Cody (John Gallagher Jr.) who develops a virtual relationship with Virginia (Kate Lyn Sheil), a student studying abroad in Berlin for six months. As Cody grows increasingly convinced that Virginia is actually living in NYC, he attempts to track her down with alarming results.Read our interview with Zach to learn more about the film.

The festival will close with Spike Lee's masterpiece Do The Right Thing in order to commemorate its 25th anniversary, as well as celebrate Brooklyn for its ability to inspire and cultivate artists like Spike Lee. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Mr.Lee himself and the cast of this 1989 classic.

Tickets are still on sale for BAMcinemaFest so make sure you grab them before they go!
