The 5 Soon-to-Be Most Iconic Images from the 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Trailer
Movie and comic book fans, assemble!
This week's big trailer release for Avengers: Age of Ultron revealed the sequel's new, drastically different direction. The trailer hints at the sequel's most aniticpated storylines. Ultron, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver all make appearances in the trailer to preview what looks like an apocalyptic battle that the Avengers seem to be losing. Here are some of the most exciting images from the trailer:
The Hulk huddled in his shirt.
This image comes right after an equally forlorn shot of the Avengers all looking troubled and in opposite directions. Things are tough this time around and you can see it in how closely Mark Ruffalo hugs himself in this scene.
First look at Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
These are the twins, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor Johnson) who were first sneak-peaked in the Captain America: Winter Soldier post-credits scene as two mysterious, supernatural siblings in captivity. It appears they've found their way out, however, and are the Avengers's newest recruits. Sticklers for continuity will notice that his isn't the same Quicksilver played by Evan Peters in Marvel's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Thor Takes a Bath
In what looks like the most stressful bathing experience ever, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) also finds his way into the trailer. At one point he dejectedly drops his hammer, and in another he's screaming in a pool of water. It's still unclear what's happening here, but it doesn't look like it's leading to anything good.
Iron Man's Hulk-Busting Suit
This bulked-up verson of Iron Man's suit was created, presumably, to control Bruce Banner when he Hulked out. But, as it appears in the trailer, the Hulk is not easily controlled. The rest of this sequence plays out by Iron Man getting punched in the chest through the entire body of that car.
First look at Ultron
Ultron, very appropriately voiced by James Spader, first hobbles into the trailer as this broken piece of scrap metal. He calls the Avengers a bunch of puppets before crushing an Iron Man drone in one hand and reappearing much later, full rehabilitated and very angry.
Captain America's Broken Shield
In perhaps the most telling shot from the trailer, the camera pans from Thor's unmoving arm among a pile of ruins to Captain America's broken shield before cutting away abruptly. But the shield is supposed to be unbreakable! What happened here?
