Post-Boyhood, Richard Linklater could probably do anything and indie audiences and critics alike would flop down at his feet in Wayne's World/Amy Schumer/"We're not worthy!" exaltation.

Luckily, Linklater's latest is a self-described "spiritual sequel" to his best film (yeah, we'll say it):1993's poignant, pot-scented, seventies-set, last-day-of-high-school group portrait Dazed and Confused.

Entitled Everybody Wants Some (from the Van Halen song of the same name), the university-set coming-of-age dramedy is rooted in the world of 1980s college life and centers around a group of friends/student athletes (played by the likes of Glee's Blake Jenner and Ryan Guzman, who was last seen terrorizing J.Lo in The Boy Next Door) as they explore the "the freedom and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood" on the last weekend before school begins.

And like Linklater's nineties classic, which featured a sweeping, killer collection of seventies music gems from the likes of Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Ted Nugent, and The Runaways, Everybody Wants Some is already teasing its eighties-era soundtrack: Devo. Pat Benatar. Talking Heads. Blondie. Blondie.
