We're now in the thick of July, and you know what that means: Emmy nominations! (Also: BBQs, sunglasses, pools, the weather being uncomfortably hot but not wanting to complain about it because you still remember our unbearable winter.) I hope you're settled someplace temperature controlled while we go over the Emmy snubs, the non-snubs, and everything else the Internet has to offer this week. 

• The 2014 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced on Thursday morning, and Netflix and HBO did very well for themselves. If you missed it somehow, check out the full list of nominees here. 
   
• Wondering why Orange Is the New Black was nominated as a comedy, and why so many of your favorite characters were nominated as "guests" rather than supporting actresses? Vulture has the answers to those questions and more. 
   
• And while you're at Vulture, why not check in on Matt Zoller Seitz as goes over his (many) snubs and predictions.
• So far the most talked-about snub this year was Tatiana Maslany's--she wasn't nominated for Orphan Black for the second year in a row. The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, and Flavorwire all expressed their disapproval.

A Trip Advisor account has been set up for the Grand Budapest Hotel--almost certainly as a PR move for the DVD release, but delightful nonetheless. 
   
• Robbie Collin wrote in The Telegraph this week that Michael Bay is the most important director in Hollywood. Agreed, no questions asked?
   
• Jessi Hempel wrote about the rise of Instagram--an app on which users spend an average 3.7 hours per month!--and where it could possibly go next, for Fortune.

You get covered in a clear gel that doesn’t read on camera. The gel goes over a fire-retardant jumpsuit, your face, everything.
