After their successful musical collaboration in 2009 for Where the Wild Things Are, it was only naturally for Karen O and Spike Jonze to team up again on a song for Her. The result of their collaboration was “The Moon Song,” the perfect musical addition to Jonze’s futuristic drama about Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a broken man who falls in love with Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), his operating system. For this gentle, dreamy celebration of love in unexpected places, Karen O and Spike Jonze received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

To celebrate the nomination, Karen O teamed up with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig to release a special duet version of “The Moon Song.” Keeping the song’s presentation stripped down and earnest, the two casually switch off between lines and manage not to sacrifice intimacy for studio quality production.

You can now purchase Karen O and Ezra Koening stunning collaboration on iTunes. The song is one of three included on the special EP of “The Moon Song.” Also available for download are Karen O’s original version of the song (which plays over the end credits) and Scarlett Johansson and Joaquin Phoenix’s duet from the film itself.
