Tribeca Film Institute Will Honor Joan Rivers This Thursday

It’s no secret that the world is less amusing without Joan Rivers. To honor the life of this legendary comedian, our friends at Tribeca Film Institute are holding a special benefit screening of the TFF 2010 documentary, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, this Thursday, September 18 at 7:30PM at Tribeca Cinemas. The print will be provided by IFC Films and all proceeds will go to God’s Love We Deliver.

Directed by Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work follows Rivers over the course of a year as she travels across the country doing stand-up gigs, TV appearances, signings and live theatre. Clearly one of the hardest working women in Hollywood for the last half-century, Rivers comes across as refreshingly funny, candid, vulnerable and complex as she gives the filmmakers full-access to all her triumphs, disappointments, jokes and obsessions with fame and relevancy. You can’t help but appreciate her in all her flawed complexity after watching the documentary.

To complete the tribute, filmmaker Ricki Stern and Joan's longtime assistant Graham Reed will be in attendance for a Q&A following the screening. Tickets are only $15 (click here to buy) and you’ll be contributing to one of Joan’s favorite charities. We hope you’ll join us to celebrate the amazing life of this quintessential entertainer.
