“Dude, you gotta believe in Drone Bones!” Truer words were never spoken. Over the last week, you’ve surely seen references to ‘drone boning’ all over your social channels—and heard about it from the likes of Stephen Colbert and Late Night titans Conan O'Brien and Seth Myers.

The art video Drone Boning initially was intended as provocative commentary on privacy (or lack thereof) and voyeurism in the 21st century, but it quickly turned into an absurd and strangely beautiful conception in and of itself.  Filmmakers John Carlucci and Brandon LaGanke of Ghost+Cow Films used drones to capture breathtaking aerial views of SoCal that include speck-like actors stimulating sex. Set to the ethereal music of Taggart and Rosewood (Zach Coulter and Ryan Olson), the dreamy three-minute art piece treats viewers to mesmerizing images that inspire thought as well as wonder (watch it here!).

Tribeca’s own Sol Guy sat down with John Carlucci and Brandon LaGanke of Ghost+Cow Films to discuss the impetus behind their idea, sexual logistics and how they found Taggart and Rosewood who turned out to be the perfect musical collaborators for the project. Sol also spoke with Zach Coulter and Ryan Olson of Taggart and Rosewood (in their first ever interview!) who offer additional insight into their creative process, which included writing their music while under the influence of the hallucinogenic DMT.
