The 6 Best Romantic Comedy Montages

Montages: love ‘em or leave ‘em, you have to admit that they have their place. And there is no better genre for the montage than the romantic comedy. Let’s take a look at some of our favorites.

The 6 Best Romantic Comedy Montages

Seasons changing in Notting Hill

There’s nothing like watching a downtrodden yet artfully rumpled Hugh Grant stroll through the changing seasons in Notting Hill. This is an excellent use of a tired trope.

Opening Sequence of Manhattan
Set to Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue”, and narrated by the soothingly nasal, pleasingly neurotic Woody Allen, this opening montage to the classic film “Manhattan” is everything a montage should be.

Mikey Grows Up in Look Who's Talking
Watching baby Mikey grow up, set to the sparkling croons of the Beach Boys, is movie montage perfection.

Dirty Dancing
The best things about this? It contains elements of a training montage, a dance montage, and a falling in love montage, and is replete with leotards, questionable perms and one very sweaty Patrick Swayze.

Carl and Ellie in Up
If you can make it through this heartbreaking opening scene without ugly-crying, then your heart is made of stone.

"You Make My Dreams Come True" in 500 Days of Summer
For when you’re feeling twee, or just when you enjoy a good, solid dance scene, watching Joseph Gordon Levitt gallivant through Los Angeles in thrall to love is just the ticket.
