BAFTA TV Award-Winner Cary Fukunaga on Working with McConaughey

Cary Fukunaga, visionary wonder boy of the big and small screens, can now place a BAFTA trophy next to his Directing Emmy.

The eight-episode first season of HBO's True Detective, which Fukunaga directed in its entirety, won the International prize at the BAFTA TV Awards (i.e. Britain's Emmys) last night, beating out such worthy stateside competitors as The Good Wife and Orange is the New Black.

To celebrate, check out an exclusive clip from Fukunaga's recent Tribeca Talk as part of the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival's Director Series.

Watch above as Fukunaga discusses working with his True Detective leading man Matthew McConaughey to create season one's indelible protagonist Rust Cohle and speaks briefly about the "oner," aka the now-legendary extended tracking shot that ended the show's fourth episode.
