Video: Aaron Sorkin Addresses 'Newsroom' Critics

In case you missed it on Monday night, we kicked off Tribeca Innovation Week with a Future of Film conversation with none other than Aaron Sorkin. Read the full recap by Jess Kimball Leslie, and enjoy the above clip - the much-talked-about moment when Sorkin "apologized" for a little misunderstanding about his HBO show The Newsroom

"I did not set the show in the recent past in order to show the pros how it should have been done."

Sorkin went on to mention his point of dramatic irony, a pattern in his work from A Few Good Men to The West Wing and The Social Network. "I wanted the option of having a terrific dynamic that you can get when the audience knows more than the characters do."

See what else he had to say about The Newsroom, binge-watching, and anti-heroes in our full recap by Jess Kimball Leslie
