Tribeca Film Festival's 2010 Short Film Line-up
TFF 2010 is presenting 47 short films from around the world, including 21 world premieres and one Oscar winner.

This year's Tribeca Film Festival, presented by Founding Sponsor American Express®, features a wide variety of short films from around the world: from Queens to Singapore to the Netherlands to New Zealand. Some feature stars you'll recognize, like Sam Rockwell (star of TFF 2009's Moon), Big Love's Harry Dean Stanton, The Hurt Locker's Brian Geraghty, David Thewlis from the Harry Potter series, and Zombieland's Jesse Eisenberg, and others are packed with virtual unknowns. First-time directors will rub shoulders with award-winners like Joachim Back, who took home an Oscar for his short film The New Tenants, which stars Vincent D'Onofrio and Kevin Corrigan.
A unique aspect of the Festival shorts programming is that the films will be grouped together around the loose themes Hard Core, Wishful Thinking, Identity Theft, Between the Lines, Flashback, and Experimental Collisions. In The New Tenants, a Hard Core short, two New Yorkers' new neighbors are definitely weirder (and possibly more dangerous) than your typical folks down the hall. The Icelandic Epic Fail, which has already been sold to Canal+ and falls under Wishful Thinking, features an awkward soundman who joins forces with a snarky goth chick after he's robbed. Take a trip back to the Bronx in 1983 for a peek at the early days of hip-hop at the legendary Disco Fever club and the life and death of DJ Junebug in White Lines & the Fever: The Death of DJ Junebug, part of the Flashback series. Or you can catch Bastard, which was written and directed by Kirsten Dunst.
You can also catch 15 of these short films online as part of the Tribeca Film Festival Virtual. One Premium pass, which you can buy now, will run you $45; with it, you'll get access not only to the shorts, but a selection of feature-length films, panel discussions, Q&As, live red carpet action, and much more. (You can buy your pass here.)
