Postcards From The Zoo
11:30 am: AMC Village VII

If you've ever sent a postcard, you most likely were lucky enough to visit a place worth talking about. If you've ever received a postcard, you most likely have imagined you were lucky enough to visit a place worth talking about. The Ragunan Zoo, as Edwin sees it, is one of those places. And the postcards he's written have a magical message, inscribed in disappearing ink. In his picture you will see: A giraffe. Hippos. A girl who ages with a tiger. A cowboy juggling light. Colorful drifters finding homes in a transient place. Both time and reality are hazy, and the enchanting zoological garden holds captive animals and humans alike.

Journey to Planet X
1:00 pm: AMC Village VII

By day, Eric Swain and Troy Bernier are just a couple of mild-mannered, nerdy Florida scientists, but after hours their real passion comes alive in the form of the fantastical and sometimes inadvertently hilarious science fiction films the two lovingly craft with only the help of an enthusiastic amateur cast, a basement green-screen, and some inspired lo-fi effects. While Eric views their efforts as a fun hobby, Troy believes the films could lead to the big time, and so with very different agendas the two undertake their most ambitious project yet, an epic short known simply as Planet X.

Downeast
9:45 pm: Clearview Cinemas Chelsea

Acclaimed directors David Redmon and Ashley Sabin shed new light on the trying task of putting America back to work in Downeast. But this is no hard-hitting, in-your-face exposé—their style is gentle, poignant, poetic. They meditate on the morbid beauty of fish sloshing across the assembly line and quietly observe the petty political squabbles that hamper progress. And—in a man who's willing to risk it all to succeed, and a generation that still gives 110 percent—they find hope.

Check out our interview with the directors of Downeast.

Replicas
11:59 pm:
Clearview Cinemas Chelsea

Following the tragic death of their young daughter, Mark (Josh Close) and Mary (Selma Blair) Hughes decide to escape from their busy lives to their upscale vacation home in the woods, along with their son. Their attempt to get some quality time together is interrupted when an unusually friendly neighboring family with a hidden agenda stops by for dinner. As their violent plot is unveiled over the course of a harrowing evening, a troubled family's bond is put to the test against one man's obsession with achieving perfection—at any cost.

Eddie the SleepWalking Cannibal
11:59 pm: AMC Village VII

Onetime art star Lars Olafssen is all washed up. Too uninspired to paint, he accepts a teaching stint at a small-time art school in podunk Koda Lake, Canada, where he does double duty as caretaker for the offbeat town's neighborhood weirdo, Eddie. Eddie doesn't speak, doesn't have any friends, and is generally regarded by the townsfolk as a harmless loon, but to Lars he quickly becomes a trusted companion. As their unlikely friendship evolves, a dark and violent secret about Eddie's nocturnal impulses begins to surface. A secret that stirs long-dormant artistic urges in the creatively stunted Lars. A secret that he feels compelled to nurture….
