Glenn Kiser, Director of the Dolby Institute, discusses the complexities of creating sound and music for film with filmmakers and sound pioneers whose work is featured in this year’s festival, including Justin Tipping, director of Kicks, and Jeff Grace, director of Folk Hero & Funny Guy . Glenn Kiser
Glenn Kiser attended Harvard University before working at Propaganda Films where he supervised post-production on feature films, music videos and commercials, and worked closely with directors like David Fincher, Spike Jonze, and Jane Campion. Glenn then went on to run George Lucas’ Skywalker Sound, where he oversaw sound design and mixing work on projects such as Avatar and Pirates of the Caribbean. Glenn’s short film Every Night & Twice On Sundays won numerous awards at festivals around the world and he recently directed his first television pilot, The Nuclear Family, a comedy written by Dan O’Keefe.

Justin Tippings
Justin is a writer/director originally from the Oakland CA Bay Area. Kicks is his first feature film as a director. Previously, he made a Student Academy Award winning short film, Nani. Justin holds a MFA in Directing from AFI and a BA in Film and Media Studies from UC-Santa Barbara.

Jeff Grace
Jeff Grace is filmmaker and sometimes actor on such shows as Mad Men and How I Met Your Mother. He also produced and starred in It’s a Disaster. Jeff most recently wrapped Last Looks, a comedy pilot for E! Network, which he co-wrote. Folk Hero & Funny Guy is his feature directorial debut.

The Rush system functions as a standby line that will form at the venue approximately one hour prior to scheduled start time. Admittance is based on availability and will begin roughly 10 minutes prior to program start time. Rush Tickets are the same price as advance tickets and are payable upon entry.
