Katie Holmes reunites with Joshua Jackson in this NYC romantic drama about two former lovers reunited years after their relationship ended without closure.

Freshly divorced, photographer Liz (
Katie Holmes) finds herself surrounded by happy couples. Walking past a bookstore advertising a talk with travel writer Andrew McCloud (Joshua Jackson), Liz freezes up in recognition of her high school boyfriend. Through a serendipitous gig, Liz photographs Andrew, and the pair of former lovers pick back up where they left off, rekindling their spark, confiding in one another and working through old wounds. As the fantasy of a life with Andrew becomes closer to reality, Liz must decide whether she’s ready to let herself love again.

Brimming with effervescence and honesty, writer-director-star Holmes’ fourth feature is a decades-spanning romantic odyssey that celebrates New York City and the power of young love. In addition to the Dawson’s Creek reunion at its center, Happy Hours rounds out its extraordinary cast with A-listers Constance Wu and Mary-Louise Parker in hilarious and heartwarming supporting roles. Sweet, sexy and smart, Happy Hours is a grounded love story for grown-ups that might just convince you that soulmates exist after all.—Cara Cusumano
