The Lottery interlaces four families' stories in the months leading up to the high-stakes, low-odds lottery for one of the most successful schools in New York. Set against the backdrop of the highly politicized battle over the future of American education, The Lottery makes the case that any child can succeed.
After the Movie: Director Madeleine Sackler, Joel Klein, chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, former New York City Council Education Committee chair and Harlem Success Academy leader Eva Moskowitz, Harlem parent Karl Willingham, and others will lead a discussion on the issues raised by the film.
