Journalist Arthur Stuart (Christian Bale) investigates the rise and fall of glam rock star Brian Slade (Jonathan Rhys Myers), who has disappeared from public life following a death hoax ten years before. This BAFTA Award-winning musical drama was written and directed by Todd Haynes, and also starred Ewan McGregor, Toni Collette, Micko Westmoreland, and Eddie Izzard.

Christine Vachon

Christine Vachon is an Independent Spirit Award and Gotham Award winner who co-founded indie powerhouse Killer Films with partner Pamela Kof ler in 1995. Over the past two decades, they have produced over 100 films, including some of the most celebrated American indie features: Carol, Far From Heaven, Still Alice, Boys Don't Cry, Kids, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Velvet Goldmine, Safe, I Shot Andy Warhol, and I'm Not There. In television, Vachon executive-produced the Emmy and Golden Globe-awarded miniseries Mildred Pierce for HBO as well as Z: The Beginning of Everything for Amazon Studios. Recent releases include Janicza Bravo's Zola, distributed by A24, Pride, six-part documentary series produced with Refinery 29 for FX, the limited series Halston for Netflix, and Todd Haynes' The Velvet Underground for Apple TV+.

Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor is one of today’s finest actors, with a diverse line-up of roles across a multitude of genres. His career has been highlighted by a continuous string of bold performances, including receiving an Emmy for his performance as Roy Halston in the Netflix limited series Halston, Golden Globe and a Critic’s Choice Awards for his dual role as brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy in FX’s Emmy-winning Fargo and a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. Soon McGregor will be seen reprising his acclaimed role of Obi-Wan in the special event series for Disney+, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Todd Haynes

Todd Haynes

Passionate about the visual arts since childhood, Todd Haynes studied art and semiotics at Brown University. In 1987, he created the medium-length film Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story with Barbie dolls. Since then, he has tirelessly continued to address questions of gender and identity. His first feature film Poison, inspired by Jean Genet, was released in 1991 and won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. After Safe (1995), which revealed Julianne Moore, he conjured David Bowie during the Ziggy Stardust period in Velvet Goldmine (1998), then paid homage to Douglas Sirk in Far from Heaven (2002). In 2006, he had six actors play Bob Dylan in I’m Not There then directed the mini series Mildred Pierce (2011) before returning to film in 2015 with Carol, then his Cannes selected film Wonderstruck (2017), followed by Dark Waters (2019), his newest release. Todd’s current project is a Velvet Underground documentary.

Micko Westmoreland

Micko Westmoreland

Micko Westmoreland is a musician, composer and actor. Most widely known for the performance as ‘Jack Fairy’ in Todd Haynes’ Velvet Goldmine. Westmoreland signed to Trent Reznor’s Nothing records (interscope) in 1999, releasing electronic music as ‘The Bowling Green’. Post millennium credits include working extensively with his brother; acclaimed director Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice/Colette) scoring The Fluffer (2001) and Quinceanera (Sundance Grand Jury prize winner 2005). Westmoreland writes, sings and performs in Micko & The Mellotronics and records with members of The Specials/The Damned/The Banshees and Madness in the charity super group The Spammed, produced by such luminaries as Tony Visconti, Nick Lowe and Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones). Westmoreland resides in London, UK.

James Kleinmann

James Kleinmann

Founder and Editor of The Queer Review, James Kleinmann has had over twenty years experience as a film critic and interviewer. A Brit now based in New York, he was a regular broadcaster on the UK's most listened to radio station, BBC Radio 2 and has contributed to shows on BBC Scotland, BBC Manchester and Gaydio. He's written for Europe's best selling LGBTQ+ publication, Attitude Magazine and is a member of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics.

Eddie Izzard

Eddie Izzard

As a dramatic actor, Eddie picked up a Tony nomination for best actor in 2003 for her performance in A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg on Broadway. She was seen recently acting alongside Dame Judi Dench, playing Edward VII to Judi’s Queen Victoria, in Stephen Frears’ Victoria & Abdul and again last year in Six Minutes To Midnight.Eddie is also one of the most original and respected comedians of her generation, having picked up two Emmys in 1999 and is now performing standup in four languages and has to date performed in forty-five countries. In 2010 the documentary Believe: The Eddie Izzard Story received an Emmy Award nomination. Her autobiography Believe Me entered the top ten in the New York Times and Sunday Times Best-seller lists. Other highlights from Izzard’s film career include Valkyrie, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, Across the Universe, Mystery Men and The Cat’s Meow.
