TRIBECA FILMS ANNOUNCES SUMMER 2026 ACQUISITIONS INCLUDING ‘LOVES COMPANY,’ ‘A VERY MERRY BREAKUP,’ AND ‘MAGIC HOUR’

NEW YORK – (July 30, 2026) – Tribeca Films, the distribution label from Tribeca Enterprises and Giant Pictures, today announced the acquisition of U.S. distribution rights to three independent features from first-time feature filmmakers: LOVES COMPANY, directed by Jason Laurits and starring Rachel Dratch; A VERY MERRY BREAKUP, written, directed by, and starring Elizabeth Guest; and MAGIC HOUR, written and directed by Jacqueline Christy and starring Miriam Shor.

Spanning comedy, romance, and heartfelt drama, the three acquisitions further expand Tribeca Films' growing 2026 slate and reflect the label's commitment to championing emerging filmmakers, elevating distinctive independent voices, and bringing acclaimed festival films to audiences nationwide.

Summer 2026 acquisitions include:

LOVES COMPANY — Directed by first-time feature filmmaker Jason Laurits, LOVES COMPANY follows Antoinette (Rachel Dratch), who believes she's been rescued from a lonely existence when her favorite Hollywood celebrity—washed-up television guest star Blake de Troy—crash lands in the Florida swamps outside her home. The comedy premiered at the 2026 Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles.

A VERY MERRY BREAKUP — Written, directed by, and starring first-time feature filmmaker Elizabeth Guest, A VERY MERRY BREAKUP follows Lydia, a hopeless romantic and serial dater who moves to New York City determined to break her unhealthy relationship patterns—only to find herself falling head over heels in love all over again. The holiday romantic comedy also stars Keith Carradine, Ed Begley Jr., Pamela Guest, and Nicholas Guest. It premiered at the 2025 Newport Beach Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Comedy Feature.

MAGIC HOUR — Written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Jacqueline Christy, MAGIC HOUR stars Miriam Shor as Harriet, a once-promising filmmaker whose creative ambitions have been sidelined by suburban life in New Jersey. Alienated from her unfaithful husband and increasingly distant teenage daughter, Harriet secretly enrolls in film school in pursuit of the dream she thought she'd left behind. The film won 18 Audience and Jury Awards, playing in 23 festivals including the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the Hamptons International Film Festival and the Miami Film Festival. It was selected for the Kinema and Arthouse Convergence Booking Fair, which connects independent films with theatrical exhibitors.

The acquisitions join Tribeca Films' previously announced 2026 slate, including WE ARE PAT; REELING; Independent Spirit Award and Tribeca Festival winner ESTA ISLA; Berlinale Forum Audience Award winner FWENDS; and MABEL. Together, the growing slate underscores Tribeca Films' commitment to discovering emerging filmmakers and bringing bold independent storytelling to audiences across the country.
