Carlos Javier Ortiz is a director, cinematographer, and documentary photographer who focuses on urban life, migration, gun violence, racism, poverty and marginalized communities. In 2016, Javier Ortiz received a Guggenheim Fellowship for film and video. His films build on the themes explored in his photographic body of work and social realism.
