AT&T Untold Stories

Original Series

Untold Stories is a multi-year, multi-tier alliance between AT&T and Tribeca Festival that awards $1 million dollars, mentorship, and distribution support to systemically underrepresented filmmakers to produce their films.

This unique partnership has already made an impact on inclusivity in film. Following its first three nationally-distributed films, Nigerian PrinceLucky Grandma and Marvelous and the Black Hole, 2021’s winner Land of Gold premiered at this year's Tribeca Festival.

In June of 2022, for the first time in program history, 5 talented and diverse filmmaking teams pitched their proposed feature film projects to an esteemed Greenlight Committee of industry professionals in front of a live audience. So Young Shelly Yo was selected as the next $1 million dollar prize recipient and her film Smoking Tigers will premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Festival, subject to timely delivery of the film.

The additional 4 finalist teams received $10,000 for development support and Under The Lights was awarded a much anticipated $40,000 grant after being chosen as the “Fan Favorite” via a public vote during the event's livestream.
