Your Weekend Repertory Screenings: 'Tron,' 'Requiem for a Dream' & More

Bruce Dern, Grace Kelly, and lots of 35mm - here's what NYC local theaters have to offer this weekend.

The weather will be nice(ish) this weekend, but that doesn't mean you have to spend all your time outside!

Friday, November 15th

Requiem for a Dream (2000)
12:05 am

Looking for an unconventional night out this weekend? Want to see Jared Leto's disturbingly infected arm on the big screen? You betcha! Head over to Nitehawk to catch a midnight screening of Aronofsky's drug epic masterpiece as part of the series THX BKLYN.

Shanghai Express (1932)
9:00 pm
Anthology Film Archives

Parting of the series, Closely Watched Trains: 'Traveling Light' + Trains on Film, Director Josef von Sternberg and cinematographer Lee Garmes construct a narrative based on how the main characters obstruct light when moving through cars on a train.  This incredibly avant-garde cinematic gem is not to be missed, especially when you can see it in 35 mm.

Saturday, November 16th

High Noon (1952)
11:00 am
Film Society Lincoln Center

There's nothing like cowboys, damsels in distress, Gary Cooper, and Grace Kelly on a Saturday morning. Don't miss out on seeing one of the most classic Western films of all time.

TRON (1982)
7:00 pm
Museum of the Moving Image

Part of the Computer Age: Early Computer Movies 1952-1987 series, the Museum of the Moving Image will be screening TRON in 35mm this Saturday night. Director Steven Lisberger took unprecented risks (with Disney nonetheless) using the first of its kind, 3D CGI.

Let's Get Lost (1988)
9:30 pm
Film Forum

Director Bruce Weber gives raw insight into the eccentric life of jazz trumpter, Chet Baker, who wasn't your typical music heartthrob in an era of Hollys and Sinatras. Released the same year Baker was found dead outside his hotel in Amsterdam, this documentary tells the story of a jazz prodigy and American cultural icon. See it this Saturday in 35mm.

Sunday, November 17th

Marnie (1964)
7:00 pm

With the much anticipated release of Alexander Payne's, Nebraska, BAM is running Hot Dern! - a series starting this weekend in honor of Bruce Dern's monumental acting career. See him play a creepy sailor who pays the ultimate price in Marnie, one of Hitchcock's underrated psychosexual thrillers.
