TFF 2014 Favorite 'Keep On Keepin' On' Now Playing In NYC

The TFF 2014 Audience Award Winner puts the spotlight on legendary jazz trumpeter Clark Terry and his mentorship of Justin Kaulflin, a blind piano prodigy.

New Yorkers and film and music enthusiasts alike got a major treat at this year’s Festival with Alan Hicks’s stunning film, Keep On Keepin’ On. In addition to winning the TFF 2014 Heineken Audience Award for Best Documentary, the world premiere of Keep On Keepin’ On brought out guests like Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, and Diane Reeves to the 2014 Festival.

Executive produced by Jones himself, the documentary chronicles the relationship between eighty-nine year old music legend Clark Terry and Justin Kauflin, a 23-year-old blind piano player with uncanny talent but performance anxiety. Having mentored jazz wonders like Miles Davis and Quincy Jones, Terry is prepared to help Justin get ready for the most pivotal moment in his budding career when his health takes a turn for the worse. Charming and nostalgic, the documentary celebrates both an iconic musician and an emerging star.

If you missed Keep On Keepin’ On at this year’s Festival (or just can’t wait to see it again!), the film opens this Friday, October 3, at both the Landmark Sunshine and Lincoln Plaza Cinemas in NYC.
