TFF Award Winner, 'Dog Pound,' Opens Tonight at Cinema Village

'Dog Pound', the gritty, visceral TFF alum drama about a youth correctional facility, opens at NYC's Cinema Village tonight.

In 2010, the Tribeca Film Festival screened Kim Chapiron's Dog Pound, a Canadian film that chronicles the lives of three boys as they are inducted into a youth detention center and strive to behave and get out early...before jealousy, mistrust and limitless violence force them to become a part of a self-fulfilling prophecy, transforming them into the people that are fated to be imprisoned forever in a system that is known to fail.

New Yorkers can experience this difficult yet moving story, which earned Chapiron the award for Best Narrative Filmmaker, at Cinema Village (22 East 12th Street) at 9:15 tonight and throughout the week. Fans of the 1977 English classic, Scum (which is said to have highly influenced this movie), will not want to miss out on this.
