Don't Go In The Woods
Dir. Vincent D'Onofrio

Don't Go in the Woods is sound advice, especially when there's a killer on the loose. First-time director Vincent D'Onofrio explores love, ambition and ruthlessness in this twisted musical/horror hybrid. The film tells the story of a young band, sans cell phones, who head to the woods in upstate New York to get away from their everyday distractions to focus on writing new material. Hoping to walk away from the trip with hit song that will score them their big break, they instead find themselves in the middle of a nightmare beyond comprehension. Displaying the musical talents of an exciting cast of gifted newcomers as they sing songs penned by acclaimed singer-songwriter and Oscar® winner, Sam Bisbee, Don't Go in the Woods unexpectedly veers from terrifying horror to musical moments that truly keeps viewers captivated and terrified in this melodious shocker.

Newlyweds
Dir. Edward Burns

Shot entirely in Tribeca, Newlyweds is a quintessential New York film from New York writer/director/actor Edward Burns. With crackling humor and sharp insights into modern relationships, Newlyweds tracks the tangled threads of a group of New Yorkers over three days. When you get married, you're not just getting a husband or wife—you get the family, the friends, even the exes. Buzzy (Burns) and Katie (Caitlin Fitzgerald) are newlyweds who believe that their new marriage works because of their conflicting work schedules--their happiness will not be destroyed by overexposure. Katie's meddlesome sister Marcia (Marsha Dietlein Bennett) thinks this is a terrible way to start a marriage, even though her 18-year relationship to Buzzy's friend Max (Max Baker) is crumbling. In addition to Marsha and Max’s inevitable divorce procedures, Buzzy's wild-child sister (Kerry Bishé) arrives to shake things up, forcing Katie and Buzzy to find a way to stay together despite the outside forces that threaten their relationship.

Northeast
Dir. Gregory Kohn

Will (David Call), an unemployed and aimless playboy living in Brooklyn, New York, has spent his 20’s skating on easy charm from one casual, distant affair to the next with no real consequence. However, that soon changes after he notices his friends’ happiness as they gradually settle into steady jobs and committed relationships and he continues to be stuck in a endless cycle of unfulfilling one-night stands and disappointments. Inspired by their progression into maturity, Will decides to make an effort to take control and find someone with whom he can start the next chapter of his life. Featuring honest performances and shot on 16mm film with artful direction, Northeast is a vividly naturalistic portrayal of the pressures of an impending adulthood.

Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston
Dir. Whitney Sudler-Smith

Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston is a prismatic portrait of the exhilarating rise and tragic fall of America's first celebrity designer—Halston—the man who was synonymous with fashion in the 1970s, and became the emperor of NYC nightlife scene. Director Whitney Sudler-Smith is an effective guide through the buzz surrounding the legendary designer as he himself actively investigates the life and legacy of this conversational style icon by talking to the people who knew Halston the best and personally taking us on a guided tour of Halston’s luxury New York home. Interviews with friends and witnesses (including Liza Minnelli, Diane Von Furstenberg, André Leon Talley, Anjelica Huston, Bob Colacello, and Billy Joel, among others) round out this glittering evocation of the man who defined the most beautiful and decadent era of recent memory.
