Jenny Lewis Scores for the Screen in 'Very Good Girls' (Now Out on VOD!)

Can't wait to hear the soundtrack for 'Very Good Girls'? Let's take a look back on what else Jenny Lewis has done for on-screen music!

There's something to be said about the special relationship that has developed between indie music and indie film over the years. Whether it was a scandalous Mrs. Robinson, a New Jersey kid who hasn't been home for eleven years, or two girls trying to shed their innocence in their summer before college—it is an undeniable fact that these often quiet, yet empowering, stories are always amplified by their respective soundtracks.

Following suit to this indie music/film coupling, Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis scored Tribeca Film's latest feature, Very Good Girls, set to open in theaters on July 25th (out now on VOD/digital!). This is not Lewis' first time writing music for the screen, as she has also done songs for HBO's Girls and Disney's adorable animation Bolt

Though Jenny Lewis did write an original score for Very Good Girls, you can still hear her old band Rilo Kiley's song 'Go Ahead' in the trailer—a song Lewis wrote when she was 20, which is perfect for this coming-of-age film. Rilo Kiley has also provided songs for shows like Grey's Anatomy, The O.C, and Nip/Tuck.

Judging from how successful Jenny Lewis and her band have been in the film and TV domain, we can't help but wonder whether she herself has had any on-screen time besides her memorable role as Hannah Nefler in Troop Beverly Hills. It turns out that she did have some small roles on shows like Baywatch, Roseanne, and The Golden Girls

Very Good Girls is now available on VOD and digital, and opening in theaters on July 25th.
