Nelson George is an author and filmmaker who celebrates black culture in America. He is currently a producer and writer on Netflix's The Get Down and recently directed of the Lifetime movie The Real MVP. George's other directing credits include the theatrical documentary A Ballerina's Tale about Misty Copeland as well as docs for ESPN and VH1. He has written many non-fiction books on African-American life including "Hip Hop America" and "The Death of Rhythm & Blues." His next novel, "To Funk and Die in LA," will be published by Akashic Books in September. George was born in Brooklyn, New York.

When tickets for a screening or event are no longer available, they will be listed as RUSH. The Rush system functions as a stand-by line that will form at the venue approximately 45 minutes prior to scheduled start time. Admittance is based on availability and will begin 15 minutes prior to program start time. Rush Tickets are the same price as advance tickets payable upon entry. There is a limit of one Rush Ticket per person.
