About the Director(s)
Animator, director and producer Gene Deitch has been creating animated films for more than 40 years. Among his many animated creations was the influential Tom Terrific series that played on the Captain Kangaroo children's TV show. Five of his films have been nominated for Academy Awards. And his movie Munro, with story, dialog, and storyboard by Jules Feiffer, won the Oscar® for best animated short film, though, as Deitch wryly notes, the short film's financial backer entered the film under his own name and was the one to whom the Oscar® was actually inscribed. "That's show biz, folks!" says Deitch, who is widely regarded as one of the great animators working today. He currently lives in Prague.
