FILM GUIDE SKAGAFJöRDUR
Peter Hutton explores the incredible landscapes and the maginficent panoramic vistas of Iceland. Skagafjördur is a silent and moving journey through cloud, mist, and timeless monuments of the land.
About the Director(s)
Since 1988, Peter Hutton has been working on a series of films that train his contemplative gaze on the Hudson River in upstate New York, where he lives. Study of a River (1997) presents a portrait of the river in winter. Continuing the tribute to the Hudson, Time and Tide (2001) was filmed from aboard various boats traveling on the river, and is his first work combining color and black and white film. Two Rivers (2002), contrasting the Hudson with China’s Yangtze River, was inspired by Henry Hudson’s third voyage in search of a trade route to the Great China Sea. His most recent film, Skagafjördur (2003), draws its title from a particularly striking region of northern Iceland.
