S.P.I.C. The Storyboard of My Life

| USA | 27 MINUTES | English
Animation
Comprised of five autobiographical stories from the filmmaker's life, S.P.I.C. centers around the racist, derogatory term for Spanish Americans and how it affected Castillo and his family. It records his family's move from New York City to Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1980 and how his new neighbors duped Castillo into believing the racial epithet was actually an acronym for "special person in Chelsea."

Cast & Credits
Directed by
Robert Castillo
Award-winning director, animator, illustrator and storyboard artist Robert Castillo discovered his passion for art and illustration at the tender age of five. Nicknamed "Sketch," Castillo drew his way through his difficult transition of returning to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic, mastering English, and acclimating to the mostly white environment of Chelsea, Massachusetts. As a storyboard artist, Castillo has created boards for feature films including Latifah's The Cookout, the Christopher Reeves-directed animation Yankee Irving, The Sopranos, music videos (Alicia Keys, Ja Rule, Kid Rock, Trick Daddy), commercials, and promo spots for VH1 and Court TV.
