When Campfire's Steve Coulson set out to create an immersive experience around the HBO production of George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones, he faced a now-familiar problem: how to simultaneously generate buzz for the show, introduce the story to a new audience, and provide a deeper level of engagement for fans of the book. In this case, the task was complicated by the fact that HBO audiences weren't expecting a fantasy series and that Martin fans were fiercely protective of his work. At a stellar presentation at last week's Transmedia NYC Meetup, he explained how he went about it.

Yulene Olaizola was admitted to the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in 2002, where she made the shorts Fat Old Sun, Café Americano, and Te voy a dormir. She was art director for Rubén Imaz's Familia Tortuga. Yulene's documentary Shakespeare and Victor Hugo's Intimacies won awards at IDFA and Montreal among other festivals.

Maggie Kileysome boys don't leave
Filmmaker and actress Maggie Kiley directed and co-wrote the award winning short film some boys don't leave. She was one of eight women selected out of hundreds of applicants to take part in American Film Institute’s prestigious Directing Workshop for Women and the film was made as part of her participation in the program. Maggie received the Student Visionary Award at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival and the Alexis Award for Best Emerging Student Filmmaker at Palm Springs International Shortfest. some boys don't leave has played at over 40 festivals and continues to screen both nationally and internationally.
L i g h t Y e a r s, a feature inspired by the short is currently in pre-production for a late Spring shoot. Maggie received the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant for this project and will utilize much of the same creative team from some boys.Read more...
