"What It Feels Like for a Girl": Women, Music and the Girl Power Revolution
The 92Y is hosting this multimedia night out for cool ladies and the people who love them. Writers Emily Gould, Marisa Meltzer (the pic above is the cover from her new book, Girl Power: The Nineties Revolution in Music), Sean Fennessey, and Elizabeth Spiridakis will be reading essays and music lyrics; there will also be a "dramatic reading" from the diaries of Courtney Love, a slide show, and a musical performance by the hula-hooping band Supercute!

The always awesome House of Yes is hosting JANK!, a music event put together by Gemini & Scorpio, featuring multi-instrument virtuoso and circus maestro Sxip Shirey, mashup musician Moldover, and DJ Shakey. Get ready to get sweaty and dance to some crazy music, or at G&S describes it, "A surreal live-music-driven dance party. Dirty electronics and live musicians (horns, drums, human beat box), regurgitating old genres like early ska, early hip-hop, techno and house and playing it raw, glitchy and original."

Oscar Party!
It's the time of year movie-lovers wait for with bated breath—Oscar night! Celebrate it with other film lovers at Comix, the stand-up venue that will be showing the ceremony on flat-screen TVs and a giant projector screen to boot. Enjoy movie-themed foods and drinks such as the, uh, The Lovely Boneless Chicken Tenders, The Hurt Liqueur, The Blind Sidecar, and Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire Gin & Tonic. The party, which includes ballots and a trivia contest with prizes, is free; the libations and food are not. RSVP and bring your friends.
