It's time for the Whitney Biennial, Purim Dr. Sketchy's, and much more in this week's Price of a Movie.

Sure, the Whitney and the Met and the MoMA all offer free or pay-what-you-want Friday nights, but the 75th Whitney Biennial is kicking off this week, and you know you wanna be in the know. In addition to this year's exhibit, you can also catch up on the highlights of the previous 74 shows in the Collecting Biennials special show, which will run until November 28. From paintings, sculpture, mixed media, photography, and film, the Biennial is always a must-see.

Twilight Visions: Surrealism, Photography, and Paris
No, this isn't about sparkly vampires and lovelorn teens. Twilight Visions is an exhibit at the International Center of Photography featuring the surreal visions of such artists as Man Ray, Jacques-André Boiffard, Dora Maar, Brassaï, Ilse Bing, Germaine Krull, and André Kertész. View photos, films, and other objets d’art from the era, courtesy of curator Terry Lichtenstein.

HAMANbashin': JDub's Purim Party
Are you so ready to eat, drink, dance, and shake your gragger? NYC record label and community event coordinator JDub Records has quite the party planned for Saturday night. Bust out your best Esther costume for the costume contest and get ready to dance your tuchus off to The Shondes (pictured above), DJ Ultragrrrl, Gangsta Rabbi, and others. JDub is also promising that "Patrick of Can!!Can and Punk Torah will channel Sid Vicious to reinterpret the Megillah!!"

Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School
Eat, drink, and draw at this subversive take on figure drawing. You can even win prizes for your magical creations! Molly Crabapple's worldwide sensation is providing New Yorkers the chance to draw, doodle, paint, or crayon the beautiful contortionist Ekaterina as a tribute to the Olympics.

New York Comic Book Marketplace
Get your comics, toys, and other geeky goodies at this smaller, East Coast Comic-Con. Sponsored by the fabulous NYC arm of Forbidden Planet, NYCBM will have a select number of artists on hand to chat with fans and sign your collectibles.
