Another TFF 2009 Pick-up! The House of the Devil

Magnet Releasing announced today that they have picked up Ti West's The House of the Devil (TFF 2009) for an October theatrical release. (Yup, just in time for Halloween!) It will be available via On Demand come September, if you're an early bird.
Starring newcomer Jocelin Donahue, Devil follows a naive young college girl on a babysitting assignment—and it turns out ugly! The film also features Tom Noonan, Mary Woronov, and up-and-comer Greta Gerwig.
Devil had some amount of controversy around it during its Tribeca debut—in an interview with Karina Longworth at Spout Blog, West expressed his dissatisfactoin with his producers, as they had recut the film into a more "sale-able" version. Said West, "it's not my version." West's frankness in this interview meant that he was "banned" from doing further press for the film. According to Current Movies' twitter, (and this is a rumor and not verified) the version that wil be released is the producer's cut, which is missing four minutes that West deemed crucial.
Drama aside, West is an emerging horror talent who is already garnering a cult following. Also noted in the announcement? West has been tapped for a Hollywood sequel to this year's The Haunting in Connecticut, The Haunting in Georgia. The Devil will get its theatrical due. We should all be so lucky as to have Noonan and Woronov creep us out come Halloween time, right?
