TFF '07 Alum The Third Wave Screens at Cannes
In an unprecedented first for Cannes, TFF '07 alum, The Third Wave, Alison Thompson's documentary about relief workers in Sri Lanka, was presented in a "presidential jury screening." This year's Cannes jury president, Sean Penn, asked if he could show this film. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Penn called the film "as provocative and inspiring as anything I've ever seen," adding, "in lieu of the fact that governments don't seem to be able to help, this film gives an indications of how you can help yourself." The official Wave website has been updated to "Sean Penn Presents - The Third Wave - A Volunteer Story."Variety has a review.
