Autism: The Musical, which premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival, was honored with an Emmy last night for Nonfiction Special. (While the televised Emmys are on Sunday, the Creative Arts Emmys got other categories out of the way, like Sarah Silverman's "I'm F**king Matt Damon," winner of Outstanding Music and Lyrics.) Autism, which aired on HBO and is now on DVD, follows five young autistic kids, their families, and their teacher who helps them write, rehearse, and perform in their own musical.
