TC Kids Club: ET and More

Last week, TC Kids Club introduced a whole new generation to Eliot, Gertie, and E.T. Tribeca Kids Access reporter Allison chimes in about the successful screening. What's up next? Imagination, Adventures and Tall Tales, including Anansi and Indian in the Cupboard. Don't miss it!

It's Allison again! I had another great assignment at Tribeca Cinemas Kids Club, which was ET the movie or Extra Terrestrial. When I arrived at the theater I was excited to watch ET since I've never seen it. (Well, once I saw a part of it, but that doesn't count.) All I knew was that ET was a movie that was directed by Steven Spielberg. ET is a heart warming story about an alien that is found in a little boy's backyard.
          
Before actually watching Extra Terrestrial, Kristin and Sara from Tribeca said that the movie today was really to get the kids to learn about critiquing a movie and how that works. I got the priviledge of speaking to the audience about my experience reporting and reviewing for the Tribeca Film Festival. I felt that after watching ET, my experience with the film festival allowed me to really look at the movie in a different light. I saw ET as a family movie that really touched anyone who saw it into believing to help others in the world whenever we can. (This also means that we have to help mysterious people from the other planets too... just like in ET!) ET also reminded me how, if we all work together we can accomplish a lot! For example, the neighborhood kids were dedicated in working together to save ET and to send him back home.



Anyway, I loved ET and I would give it four stars for all the things it's made me realize and for being such a gosh darn heartwarming movie! Adding on, this isn't the typical alien movie, which made it even better! I loved ET and if you haven't seen it yet, convince your parents to rent it from Netflix to watch! I've got to go, but I can't wait for another exciting assignment. In the meantime, try to practice critiquing movies, books, and shows you watch!

The next Tribeca Cinemas Kids Club screenings will be this Saturday, February 6. For our Imagination, Adventures and Tall Tales day, we'll be showing animated Anansi tales (based on the Jamaican folktales, narrated by Denzel Washington) and Indian in the Cupboard. The post-screening activity for Anansi will be an authentic Caribbean drum circle (bring your own drum!); after Indian in the Cupboard, meet "Storyteller Supreme" Ms. Tammie Hall as she weaves unforgettable Iroquois tales.
