We love Award Season! Out of all the nominees, three very special films have ties to the Tribeca Film Festival and Tribeca Film Institute.

If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation is nominated for Best Documentary Feature. Filmmakers Marshall Curry and Sam Cullman were supported through the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund in 2008.

Incident in New Baghdad is nominated for Best Documentary, Short Subjects. This gripping documentary—about one U.S. Army veteran's recount of one of the most notorious events of the Iraq War—was named Best Documentary Short at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.

Pentecost is nominated for Best Short Film, Live Action. This Irish film, which features the tale of a boy who is called in at the last moment to serve as an altar boy at an important mass, also played at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.
