Following the historic opening of his studio in Atlanta, Tyler Perry has continued to build an empire that continues to attract audiences across the world. Celebrated as one of the greatest, he received an Honorary Oscar in 2021 as the recipient of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and the Governors Award at the 2020 Emmys. In a conversation with accomplished journalist and co-host of CBS MORNINGS, Gayle King, Tyler will sit down to talk about his legendary career thus far and how he inspires others to create a space to dream.

Tyler Perry is an actor, director, screenwriter, producer, playwright, author, and philanthropist. He started his career writing plays, many of which became the inspiration for his films, including the legendary Madea character. The Madea franchise has grossed over $1 billion at the box office. Tyler has created 17 shows, over 20 feature films and more than 1,500 episodes of television. In 2019, Perry celebrated the historic opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. He received an Honorary Oscar in 2021 as the recipient of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and the Governors Award at the 2020 Emmys.

Gayle King is co-host of CBS MORNINGS. An accomplished television journalist, King interviews top newsmakers and delivers original reporting to CBS MORNINGS and all CBS News broadcasts and platforms. She is also Editor at Large of Oprah Daily and hosts a live, weekly radio show, “Gayle King in the House” on SiriusXM. Since joining CBS News, King has conducted revealing interviews with world leaders, political figures and celebrities, including former President Barack Obama; Elon Musk; R. Kelly; and Michelle Obama and her mother, Marian Robinson. She also conducted the final interviews with Representative John Lewis and Cicely Tyson before their passing.
