One clear summer day in a New York suburb, a baby goes missing from her own front porch. Two young girls serve seven years for the crime and are released into a town that hasn't fully forgiven or forgotten. Alice (Danielle Macdonald) lives a sheltered life under her mother's (Diane Lane) watchful eye, while Ronnie (Dakota Fanning) keeps her head down working at a local bagel store. When another child goes missing, Detectives Nancy Porter (Elizabeth Banks) and Kevin Jones (Nate Parker) are called in to investigate the mystery in a community where everyone seems to have a secret. Academy Award-winning documentarian Amy Berg makes her fiction film debut with a haunting, emotional adaptation of Laura Lippman's acclaimed novel of secrets, loss, and murder.
