Rohitash Rao and Abraham Spear are collectively known as the founders of Ugly Pictures. Coffee is the first in a long series of films based on Underbelly the surreal comics penned by Kathy Hepinstall and Rao that appeared in Ray Gun and Bikini magazines between 1993 and 1995.

Ugly Pictures was founded by Rohitash Rao and Abraham Spear in 1995. Their first project-a 15-minute documentary called Fifteen Minutes about five people's 15 minutes of fame-screened at the 1997 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and the 1998 New York Independent Film and Video Festival. They spent years shooting commercials and short films and later turned to stop-motion animation in 2001.

The Rush system functions as a standby line that will form at the venue approximately one hour prior to scheduled start time. Admittance is based on availability and will begin roughly 10 minutes prior to program start time. Rush Tickets are the same price as advance tickets and are payable upon entry.
