Premonition
| Japan | 95 MINUTES | JapaneseIt all started innocently enough. On the drive home from a weekend at his parents, Satomi stops at a pay phone to send an email from his laptop while his wife and daughter wait in the car. He happens to notice a newspaper clipping on the ground about the death of a little girl-who happens to be his daughter. When he looks up he sees his wife walking toward him and an 18-wheeler rams into the car with his daughter still inside. Three years later, divorced, teaching school, and still grieving, Satomi sees another newspaper clipping-this time the victim is of one of his students. He tries to stop her death, but his attempt is futile. From that point on Satomi, with the help of his ex-wife, delves into uncovering the mysterious and deadly truths behind his newspaper premonitions. Eerie and intelligent, Premonition is an intriguing and mesmerizing horror film. Full of frights and heart-pounding suspense, the film is also a study of the psychological downward spiral of one man's quest to rectify his guilt. Made by one of the producers of the original Japanese The Grudge and The Ring series, who also produced the American version of The Grudge, and the director of the Japanese prequel to The Ring, Premonition is a thrill for any horror film-lover and especially for the Asian horror enthusiast.
