The film is great. Whoever and wherever they found the actor, Fabian Hogarth, ha ha ha, he is quite good. He should try and make a go at acting... You gotta see it.

The Third Rule Original
Its unfortunate that things like this happen. The Third Rule was originally created by a few people in 2009, with "Fabian Hogarth". "Fabian Hogarth" agreed to make this movie because of the original cast.It was filmed and recorded with other actors in 2009. Aundre Johnson, lied to, and manipulated the original cast, creators, writers to get close to Fabian Hogarth, as one of the cast members was close friends with "fabian". I would love to hear what Aundre Johnson has to say about how this movie was created, in writing, publicly. As there are many witnesses that know how The Third Rule was originally created.

wow
Aundre left the original cast up on IMDB until today, probably to try and prevent something like this.I'm shocked Aundre, as a "friend of bill" that you would be so slimy. And what happened to Ian Somerhalders cut from the original Third Rule?

Erin and J response
Erin & J & whomever else – I thought that I should respond to your notes posted here. I can appreciate your disappointment with Aundre’s finished film, but you should try and keep that disappointment in check. I’ve been a friend and fan of Aundre’s work for many years. When he showed me a rough cut of the project, my only critical comment was that some of the casting was a little weak. Apparently, that comment and others like it caused him and his associate, Mr. Hogarth, to finish the film with some revisions including re-casting. This happens while making films. I think most actors at some time or another are recast and although it can be painful, it is part of the process. Filmmakers have to have the ability to finish their films in the manner they envision. Sometimes that vision isn’t shared by everyone, but it is the process. As for your comments about Aundre lying to “everyone” to get to Fabian Hogarth – Fabian and Aundre have known each other for over 10 years. The project was their idea and everyone associated was invited to participate in Aundre’s film by their mutual decisions – just as the final film is a product of their mutual decisions. Your misguided anger and point of view is an example of why the changes were made. I hope that my comments don’t come across as too harsh. I wish you the best of luck as you move forward on your future projects.

I was at the screening tonight and I just have a couple questions. David, if the time stamp on your message is at 8:19pm, how is it that you thought it was not funny before the film was viewed at 9:30pm?? Interesting how you could find something that you've never seen "not funny". FD, Jay Mather, and Anonymous- if you were really at the screening tonight and saw the film, tell me which directors were present for the Q&A after the screenings. I was in that audience tonight and everyone seemed to love all of these films, so I have a feeling you weren't even in the screening and don't have any idea what you're talking about.

Very glad to see the latest, and greatest, version of this film. I fully support Aundre in this cut- I am a 3rd party person with no affiliation between Aundre, cast or crew and I had several harsh thoughts on an earlier cut that had nothing to do with the story or the direction. Good directors and good story tellers do not let weak performers ruin their films. Bravo and I hope you take home gold!

Nicely done Aundre! Very, Very Funny. Great cast, nice car, VERY nice ladies... In my opinion, this is one of the best, if not "the best" comedy shorts playing at Tribeca. I really hope it gets top honors, and is received well by other directors, film studios and distribution companies. The more you watch this film, the funnier it gets. Jason & Joel work great together, well timed comedy. Were they even following a script?... And who can forget Fabian? That "mongoose man" is an awesome actor, I hope he really "makes it" in this biz! Only one con in my book: Joel really does need a mustache to be driving that sweet Ferrari! :)

Have been watching thru virtual screening(which is cool) and have been reading all of the comments. So, it's funny to me that the people who are for The Third Rule are anointing this the second coming of film and the people who are against it think it's trash. I, for one, think it's neither great nor terrible. I applaud anyone who gets their film accepted. On the other hand, everyone has an opinion, good and bad, and this is a comment page.....anyone has the right to make a comment whether people like it or not.

Third Rule....
Personaly saw the outtakes / footage from the earlier "Third Rule" project and must say the "slacker" actors sucked (to use such a lame word - but appropriate). Sadly the background story is that in the middle of shooting it, they tried to manipulate the director / creator for "creative control" / ownership and mostly to get a "SAG card". What a lame way of being a "team player". Luckily this project has better actors to carry the vision of this film.

Amazed
Personally, it blows my mind that so many people have commented on a film, a short for that matter, that is neither engaging nor funny; and must suck for everyone involved that the comment page has become a sounding board for every disgruntled person on the film. Obviously the director screwed the "original cast" to get Sir Anthony on board and the cast tried to screw the director right back. I wasn't on the set, but by what was being said I doubt I'm far off. What really sucks is the person who wrote the original piece is left out of the shuffle. And this will go down as another bloated short film.

April 28, 2010 11:41 PM

James Barnes said:

Even More Amazed
I love how you have such a problem with a comment page being a sounding board for disgruntled people that you just have to make comments for yourself. I'd personally love to know you you claim is the person who wrote this original piece, because I for one know the writer and would love to see if you know anyone of what you are talking about.

californiadon said:

You may be right......
The big question will always be; Was the original project a better "quality piece" and a better project than the wonderful project that was entered into the festival. Cinephilitic, Have you ever heard of a recasting of actors. Be it as simple as just firing an actor for insubordination or recast because they chose to try and hijack a project or not listen to the director / creative person on the project. All too often small minded wanna be actors (albeit without SAG cards or talent) are casted for shorts and feature length films. Sometimes those projects are completed and left on a shelf gaining dust bunnies by the minute usually due to having lower tier or a non-existant level of talent. Ever so often a project is recast and has a modicum of success. (perfect example was the Marvel Fantastic Four which was originally shot in 1994 only to keep the rights to the project by the great producer Roger Corman). Several people have posted a few things about this project and the director, with whom I have had great personal experiences and financially have supported his earlier film shorts. It does seem to me that what we have are few disgruntled "wannabe" actors and/or "film critics" who have not seen this film, let alone attended a screening here at Tribeca and are making statements from their homes and keeping their "anonymity". The film should be judged on its merits and by those who have taken the time and resources to see this film and not the words from these numerous posts.
